Santa Monica Pickleball Center

Quick Facts
Description
The Santa Monica Pickleball Center at 2505 Wilshire Blvd combines a large pickleball retail store with four dedicated outdoor courts tucked behind the shop. The business began as the Santa Monica Tennis Center and converted to pickleball in 2021 as the sport took off. The store carries one of the biggest paddle selections in Los Angeles, with an in-store dink court for testing and a demo program that lets you take paddles home to try before buying, with rental fees credited toward a purchase. On the courts, the center runs private lessons, Jumpstart beginner classes, liveball sessions, skills and drills, and private events, open every day with bookings through its app, website, or front desk.

This little gem has been here for years first it was a dedicated tennis shop - ummm no thanks. Way to hard. Then they expanded into the old Scuba Haus turned dance studio. They took out the single tennis court out back and added 4 perfectly plastered pickle courts. The staff is on it, they know their gear happy to help with any questions and the subtly of a pickle paddle. 100's of demos to try prior to going big and buying your own. 10 out of 10. Don't judge me for playing pickle... At one time I was an athlete I swear. Much love and keep it up
I’m a devoted Selkirk fan and love both their paddles and their customer service. When the Boomstick Summit was released, I waited a bit too long to purchase and quickly discovered it was sold out everywhere—including Selkirk and every authorized dealer listed on their site. After several failed attempts (four different online orders that were later canceled due to no inventory), I was just about ready to give up. On one last Google search, I stumbled upon Santa Monica Pickleball Center, whose website showed availability.I emailed to confirm they actually had the paddle in stock and received a prompt, reassuring reply that they had two available and I should place my order. I ordered Wednesday around noon, received a UPS notification by 2:00 pm that the package was on its way, and by Friday it was delivered—fast, smooth, and exactly as promised.Santa Monica Pickleball Center kept me informed every step of the way, and the experience couldn’t have been better. Hats off to this fantastic shop. I’m grateful I found them—and thrilled to be playing with my new paddle. Thank you!
This review is specific to their Live Ball program. I have gone twice under the Advanced skill level and both times, the instructors have not managed the group well enough to keep the right people in the proper groupings. When you sign up, you do so under skill level, but once there, the groups begin to mix. The last time I went, I ended up with a group that could not dink or drop. It's great that people are learning, but that is what the beginner group is for. When I asked to move to a different court, they said the numbers would be off so I was stuck with the same group where the play was not fun for anyone given the disparity. For $50, I would expect better organization to ensure all participants maximize their experience.
I was looking for Pickleball places to take some lessons. I had my first one today, the Jumpstart 1.0 and loved it. There were six of us in the group, and the session lasted for an hour and a half. Cade who was our instructor taught us the basics and rules. We learned terms, rally, volley and how to serve. The last half hour we were able to play a few games as we switched players every so often.I learned a pretty good lesson today where if the ball goes onto the other court where other people are playing. You should say "ball on" to give them a heads up. I wasn't aware of that considering I wasn't the person that hit the ball over. So, that is very important to know. I found out after the fact. What I really liked is that all the beginners were very supportive of each other. I would like to try the Live Ball Early Intermediate next time. Also, this place has a lot of choices for paddles and shoes. I only wish they had more clothing pieces in larger sizes.
First time playing at the new padel courts today and had a great time. Great to have finally have some courts on the west side!! Highly recommend
