Philcrest Hills Tennis & Pickleball Club is a member-owned club founded in 1972 next to the Arkansas River in Tulsa, Oklahoma, which opened its dedicated indoor pickleball facility in 2022. Pickleball Director Blake Sprouse (a former Division I tennis player at Oral Roberts University) leads open play (Monday, Thursday, Saturday), a Wednesday ladies league, a Saturday ladder league, and Pickleball 101 beginner sessions, all at member/guest pricing ($5-20 per session). The club also runs summer camps combining tennis, swimming, and pickleball for kids ages 6-14. It holds a 4.5 rating across 30 Google reviews.
My wife and I started playing here back in 2020 with no tennis experience and it has been such a magical journey that has literally changed our life! The pros are top notch, we have both gone from total beginners to playing with more advanced players now and have been on USTA teams through Philcrest, many that have even gone on to play at USTA and ITT Nationals. And the friends we have made here are so special, before we just went to the gym but this is a real community of great people to hang out with too. The Courts are in great shape (inside and outside), especially compared to other clubs around town. And it is such a great value for all you get. They have really upgraded the facilities lately like the outdoor patio, landscaping, and mens locker room, and more improvements to come, and had only one small dues increase. As a bonus we love to use the pool in the summer too. And they even have a great beer and wine selection for your post-match enjoyment! Thank you Team Philcrest!!!
Good atmosphere, men's night on Wednesdays, scenic outside courts adjacent to the river. Four indoor pickleball courts on north side.
Our daughter has been in lessons for a year here and we've enjoyed our experience.
I have been a member of Philcrest for about 4 years now and I can personally say that it is a pretty great establishment. The building itself is quite old but also charming. The indoor courts are great for getting out of the weather and the outside courts are very convenient and are in a nice spot. In addition, there are numerous drills which are great for getting in some extra practice. However, the prices are pretty high, but I suppose that may just be a result of inflation and what not, but still it is pretty expensive. Furthermore, one of my main issues with this establishment is that LITERALLY ALL THE FOOD IS EXPIRED. I don't know why, but anytime I try to get a drink or a snack it is expired. Not that big of an issue, but still. That aside, Philcrest is a great place to go and play some tennis but definitely could use some work.
We have been coming to this club for at least 10 years. Our daughter played tennis here but primarily we have enjoyed the pool for many years. We have just learned that this will be the last year for the pool. They are filling it in and making it a pickle ball court! This is very disappointing. If money is the issue and I’m sure it is then raise the rates! There has not been a major increase in years. Why not try that before making a major decision to just close it. There are many of us that would be happy to pay more to keep it going. It has been a great place for families. It may be one of the very few places left that is affordable and fun for all. Please reconsider.
