Harvest Pickleball and Tennis is a 24-hour indoor, climate-controlled facility in Ames, Iowa with six pickleball courts and two tennis courts. The club has served central Iowa players since 2017 and runs on a self-service model: members receive a personal key code for the entrance, reserve courts through CourtReserve, and play on the honor system any hour of the day. A free public account is available alongside paid junior, standard, premium, and family accounts, and drop-in sessions are organized by skill level, with staff able to help assess where a new player fits. Leagues, tournaments, lessons, and cardio tennis round out the calendar.
Initially, I thought this place didn’t exist. I called the number on the door and message prompted for a Rachel. The door was locked and the building is attached to a church. The place is correct and Rachel is the person in charge of the tennis club. The tennis club is owned by the church. So, when signing up, if you see a church website you at the right place. I ran into a gentleman, Barry who explained the details of the operation and walked me around. Very well kept courts indoor. There’s a lot of pickleball here as well. Nice place, would be better if things were a bit more disclosed.
Friendly staff. It's convenient that it's open 24 hours per day, 7 days per week, and on Sunday mornings you can hear the church band playing. The lessons are fantastic. Our son loves the training and his game has greatly improved.
Though only two courts, the Harvest Vineyard Church understood the need for indoor facilities for the community of active tennis members in Ames, and it's absolutely commendable! Fast, friendly service when you need it, great online system to manage court reservations, 24-7 TENNIS (!), and just recently refinished/painted courts!
Not only is the facility in great shape, the staff who run the courts are friendly and very responsive to any questions or needs. I like to think of this place as the best kept secret in Ames! Shhh, don't tell anyone.
