Went to see Dr.Betman about athletes foot around my toes that was surrounding my big toe nail causing my toe nail to break the the skin in the affected area. He evaluated my infection and determined I need a partial matrixectomy done and that I have a fungus infection. He explained he needs to cut the side of the toe nail to remove the ingrown nail along with the root to prevent it from happening in the future. I tried to explain that I need a prescription cream to get rid of my fungus which is causing my skin to break around the toe nail due to flaking of the skin making it thin and weak. I didnt want the procedure! He insisted I proceed with the procedure as it was very necessary. I asked if my toe nail will look deformed he assured me it won't. He was very convincing and extra nice. So I thought I actually need it in the end. He removed a huge portion of my toe about (1/3). In my head I assumed he's just removing a small portion of the nail where the nail broke the skin due to fungus infection in that area but he went too far in my opinion! Now my toe nail is completely deformed!!! My nail seems thinner and the whole side where he cut out is open. This is effecting my self confidence as I like to walk in bare feet! He completely destroyed my nail and didn't listen to his patient. He assured me it won't look deformed and lied!! I should have been more firm and tried the topical medication before proceeding with the partial matrixectomy that wasn't necessary in my opinion!!! I think he just wanted to make money so he pushed me to get the procedure done instead of just prescribing the cream. Now there is no procedure to restore my root so that I can restore my nail to its original form!!! At the end my fungus still wasn't resolved after 10 months and I definitely won't be coming back or referring anyone to this shady doctor!!!

My boyfriend went in for athlete's foot. It was so bad that it looked like he was getting an ingrown toenail, the toe was that swollen. Dr. Batman suggested matrixectomy even thou my bf had no history of ingrown toenail. When asked multiple times, the doctor reassured my boyfriend that his toenail will not become disfigured and will grow back looking the same way. Caught off guard, and pressured by Dr. Batman, he reluctantly agreed to the procedure. After the fact we did our research, and unfortunately we were mislead. Once the toe healed, we noticed that 1/3 of his toenail is missing. And that toenail is adjusting to new width of toenail. My boyfriend loves being barefoot. Now his toe is disfigured, and he's very self conscious about it. What makes it even worse, chemical matrixectomy is irreversible. So he's now stuck with this butchered toe. And, he STILL HAS athlete's foot!!! This was an insurance grab, this doctor does not care about his patients. Not even a doctor, he's a butcher! Very, VERY DISSATISFIED with this service.
