Our first time in Des Moines, this was one of the fun places that made our list, and we are SO glad we stopped by. We came for the fun activities, and were blown away by how delicious the food was! The burgers were perfectly cooked and the service was great. Huge kudos to Chris who walked us through the axe throwing and was so patient with a bunch or newbies. The tips did help! And his attention made everything even more enjoyable. 10/10.

Really nice dinner with the family here. Food and atmosphere were awesome as well as the food. The service all was good but the kitchen, they had several misses making me walk back twice and it’s not busy so they cannot blame it on that. The facility was very clean and inviting and some real nice outdoor seating. Lots of games in play here.I’d go back again.

When we arrived, we waited at the front desk for over 10 minutes. No one ever came to assist us. We had to go search for someone to assist us. This was our first time there. It is overwhelming when you first arrive. The rules specifically say that when axe throwing, you must wear close toe shoes. Half way through our visit, another couple of a different nationality arrived and were next to us. They were also axe throwing, however, we noticed that the female was wearing open toe sandals. When we asked the associate about the rules, the associate then offered the female a pair of crocs which was provided by Smash Park, the female declined to wear the shoes. She then continued to axe throw. It was a concern for us because by us being a different nationality, I feel like it would have been a different outcome. I do have a picture of the female with the axe in her hand. When I questioned the associate, he just laughed it off. I was really offended. I was bothered by it because I feel like I would be held by different standards. I had to wear closed toe shoes. So why didn't she have to? Why was it just brushed off? Why was able to continue with her game? I realize those are her toe, but it's just the principle. I am African American and she was Caucasian. Other than being treated differently, I did enjoy myself up until that point.

We were in town for a spring baseball tournament and found Smash Park online before we arrived. We booked the Batbox for a couple of hours and had friends join us, with four kids and five adults in our group. Finn was our attendant and he was awesome—he got everything set up quickly, checked in on us, and was very attentive and friendly, which made our experience even better. The kids loved the Batbox and so did the adults. We did the hitting challenge, the pitching challenge, and then played a full nine-inning game using the World Baseball Classic finals matchup. Patsy was our server and she was fantastic—very nice, attentive, and gave us great suggestions on food and drinks. Our whole group had a blast. I would highly recommend Smash Park, and to management: you have aces in both Finn and Patsy. We will definitely be back the next time we visit Des Moines.
