Cushing Terrell is a large multidisciplinary firm offering architecture, mechanical, electrical and structural engineering, commissioning, interior design, landscape architecture, planning and energy services.

Its pickleball credential is a documented adaptive-reuse conversion: The Flying Pickle in Meridian, Idaho, where the firm served as design team to repurpose an industrial warehouse into a premium indoor pickleball facility. The owners’ brief extended past courts to community, wanting a home away from home for a growing local pickleball population spanning beginners to experts.

The design drew on the sport’s origins for its material palette, referencing the original wood paddle and the flora of Bainbridge Island in colours, textures and materials, while incorporating dynamic courts alongside amenity spaces that foster member connection.

The project is published twice, as a portfolio entry and as a blog case study on transforming industrial space into a premium pickleball venue.

Because the firm carries in-house mechanical, electrical and structural engineering alongside architecture and interiors, it can take a warehouse conversion end to end.
