VillaSport Athletic Club in San Jose is a large family athletic and fitness club offering one regulation USAPA/IFP pickleball court (20 by 44 feet) alongside its broader amenities: indoor and outdoor pools, basketball, group fitness, personal training, and a kids’ club. Pickup pickleball runs on a scheduled court schedule for ages 18 and up unless otherwise specified, first-come basis with nets set up by staff; players bring their own paddles and balls, and a two-set maximum applies when others are waiting. A pickleball league also runs periodically for members wanting more structured competitive play. The club emphasizes an all-in-one wellness experience alongside its sports offerings, including recovery services and a full aquatics program.
A very friendly and clean gym. Besides the professional swimming pool, there are also pools for general practice and children. The fitness equipment upstairs is very complete, and there are many workout classes available. Even someone like me who normally doesn’t enjoy exercising likes coming here. The shower rooms and locker areas are also very clean, and the lockers allow you to set your own passcode, which is very convenient.
There are far too many managers at this place, and unfortunately, they don't seem to communicate with each other. One employee tells you one thing, another tells you something completely different, and no one takes responsibility when the information turns out to be wrong. This has happened to us several times, but today was the final straw. We are a family of four—two adults, an older child, and a baby. We've brought our baby to the pool several times without any issues. Then one day, we were suddenly stopped at the front desk and told the baby needed to be registered. That was completely reasonable, and we had no problem doing it.The problem was how it was handled. Our older child had already gone through the gate, while my husband had to come back because the baby and I weren't allowed in. We asked if we could at least go get our child first, but we were told no—we had to complete the registration before anyone could enter. Our family was split up, and our young child was left inside by herself. It was an incredibly stressful and unnecessary situation. We spent about 20 minutes filling out paperwork while standing there with a baby in a stroller. The employee repeatedly assured us that everything was taken care of and that we would never have to do it again. Two weeks later, we were stopped again. This time we were told that what we had completed wasn't even a registration—it was just a guest form. In other words, we had wasted 20 minutes because an employee gave us incorrect information, and now we were expected to start the entire process over again. No apology, no accountability, just more inconvenience for us.Mistakes happen, but what matters is how they're handled. At this facility, the burden always seems to fall on the customer, even when the mistake was entirely theirs. That was enough for us. We decided to cancel our membership and switch to the YMCA instead. We value businesses that respect their customers' time and take responsibility when they make mistakes. Unfortunately, this place has shown us neither.
Why do you make it so hard for members to add new members into the existing account? Such horrible experience adding my girlfriend to my account and I don’t understand why a facility in their right mind would do that. And this is the TV right above the hip machine covered in dust. Very good for breathability. But it’s more important to put all of the effort into making the website and the membership process as hard as possible.
The gym is way expensive (around $200) compared to others. They have larger facilities but only 2 locations in the Bay Area. The positive - outdoor pools and sauna area. They have a recovery area but need additional payment -around $50. The negative - for the price, you would expect better management and services. Dirty areas specially lunch time and after work. You would think it has more machines but it’s not. Very rude staff - well extremes. There are really good ones and then the terrible ones. The terrible ones act like they own the place. Would I recommend it? If you swim a lot - sure. If not, go to City Sports or 24 hrs. It’s 4x the price of those gyms but same service and maybe even terrible staff.
Our family loves the pool here and enjoyed it so much this summer. We’re genuinely thankful for all the staff who bring us the comfort and fun experience. Stella, the aquatic representative, is so sweet and helpful. We will come again next summer! We love Villa sports! By the way, I’ve been a member here for over a year. Rachael was my personal trainer, and she is amazing! I also recommend the Pilates class because it just so worth it!
