Kim Grant Tennis Academy is a tennis and pickleball academy at 3005 Middlefield Road in midtown Palo Alto, tucked behind the Winter Lodge skating center. Founded by Kim Grant, a former WTA tour professional with certifications in multiple countries, the academy runs lessons, clinics, and camps for both kids and adults, and pickleball has its own program alongside the tennis pathway. The Palo Alto site has four tennis courts and two dedicated pickleball courts. Google reviewers rate the academy 4.1 stars across 20 reviews. Hours run 8 AM to 9 PM most days, and the academy also operates programs at other Peninsula locations, so check the schedule for where a given clinic meets.
A Truly Exceptional Tennis AcademyOur son has been part of KGTA for over six years now—including through COVID—and we could not be more grateful for the extraordinary care, professionalism, and heart this academy consistently shows. Being on the autism spectrum, he thrives in an environment where he feels understood, supported, and genuinely valued—and KGTA has been exactly that place.Coach Ivan and Coach Enrique have been remarkable. They have broken down every lesson with clarity and patience, tailoring each session to meet his sensory needs while still offering the right kind of challenge. They've checked in about his school schedule and adjust lessons as needed. If he has a test, they've turned practice into a light and fun rally, making him feel like a winner. If he isn’t feeling his best, they've built in breaks without ever making him feel different. Thanks to their thoughtful coaching, our son now plays and rallies so well that coaches from other academies often approach us wanting to train him—but for us, there is simply no better place than KGTA.The progress we’ve seen goes far beyond tennis. His confidence, sensory integration, overall health, and happiness have soared. Most importantly, he feels like he belongs—on the court and in the community. That sense of belonging is nurtured by the kindness and inclusive tone set by Coach Kim Grant and every member of her team. The front desk staff—Nathan, Sydney, George, Kerilyn, Stacey—have been outstanding. They communicate clearly about rain cancellations, schedule changes, and rescheduling needs, always with warmth and efficiency.Recently, during a major health emergency in our family, the academy’s compassion and support meant more than words can express. It’s rare to find a place that combines technical excellence with such genuine humanity.KGTA is not just a tennis academy to us—it’s a community that has helped our son grow in skill, confidence, and joy. We could not recommend them more highly.
Kim Grant Tennis Academy Hosting at San Jose State Yellow and Green Ball Tournament Sat Dec 2. VERIFIED UTR TOURNAMENT SUCCESS👌🔥 Partisapants improved their ratings today...nice! The truest form of competition to measure tennis skill.
To be quite blunt, this academy has it all. From the exponentially friendly staff, to the coaches, who are not afraid of going the extra mile to make sure you grasp the inner workings of tennis. Not to mention the One Stop Pro Shop, where I managed to purchase tennis shoes, a racket, and have my tennis racket restrung. All of this orchestrated by an amazing team of coaches lead by Kim Grant, who played, and then coached on the Pro Tour.
Great experience, the best academy in Bay Area! Our 3 kids are with Kim Grant and her knowledgeable coaches since 2 years and have improved a lot! Coach Kim is dedicated and hardworking, helping each kid individually, physically and mentally. The team there is kind and helpful. Kids are learning tennis at Winter Lodge Palo Alto, Burgess Park Menlo Park and Woodside High school. Summer camps are very intense but also fun and beneficial, especially Monterey sleep away camp, best experience ever. Highly recommend!
Best tennis academy in the area! There are 4 beautiful courts and a convenient location behind the Winter Lodge Skating Center in Midtown Palo Alto. Caters to players of all ages and ability levels (including adults!)
