Description

Pickleball Xpress is a 4-court indoor pickleball facility in Islip, New York, founded by four South Shore Long Island partners — Quadir Russell, Charlie Ferraro, Michael Khoury, and Mitchell Sloan — who launched the business to address long court wait times across Long Island. Located adjacent to Gold’s Gym, the facility is known for its notably high, 18-foot ceilings (avoiding the low-ceiling ball-hitting issue common at other indoor venues), cushioned acrylic courts, and a dedicated teaching court (#4) with a dinking wall. It offers court reservations, open play (grouped into six skill-based rotating groups over two-hour sessions), lessons, coaching, leagues, and tournaments; guests can book up to 5 days ahead with pricing based on peak/off-peak hours ($30-50/hour). The company has expansion plans for Brightwaters and Red Hook, Brooklyn. It holds a 4.7 rating across 60 Google reviews.

Laura M was the reason my experience at Pickleball Express turned into a very disappointing one. Before I even arrived, I spoke directly with Jason, the owner, and he approved me to play in the 3.5–4.0 open play. The moment I walked in, Laura M. confronted me and told me I didn't belong there. I found that to be completely inappropriate and unwelcoming. Laura M. had no authority to decide who could or couldn't play, especially after I had already received approval from the owner. What made the situation even worse was that Jason never stepped in to tell Laura M . that he had already approved me to participate. As the owner, he should have immediately addressed the situation instead of allowing another player to question and embarrass me in front of everyone. If this is truly a 3.5–4.0 open play, then it should be managed by the staff—not by players like Laura M. deciding who belongs. Open play should be welcoming, not intimidating. I expected a friendly pickleball community, but instead I was made to feel unwelcome by Laura M ., and the owner failed to correct the situation. I hope Pickleball Express does a better job in the future by making sure staff handle these situations and that no one else has to experience what I did.

Signed up here a few weeks ago and this is my favorite spot to pickle it up. Courts were great to play on and the staff is very kind. We arrived very early and Jackie was here to greet us. She had everything set to go will definitely be back because of her great customer service.

★★★★★

My new favorite place. Jackie at the front desk was easy to deal with and is always very helpful. The courts are well maintained with excellent lighting. Membership is the way to go and Pickleball Express has some of the best deal around. I highly recommend this facility.
