The Springs Country Club is desert golf operating at full throttle, freshly sharpened and mildly dangerous. The place looks calm, almost polite, until you realize it’s been quietly setting traps for anyone who confuses confidence with competence.The recent rework by golf course architect Cary Bickler shows up loudest in the bunkering. These aren’t decorative sand splashes meant for postcards. They’re strategic, angular, and placed exactly where your best intentions tend to land. The sand is clean and consistent, but the shapes are ruthless, cutting into fairways and guarding greens like they’ve been personally offended by your swing. They force decisions off the tee and demand precision on approach. Bail out too safely and you’re punished just as efficiently as if you went full hero.Then there are the greens, which are fast in that honest, no-apologies way. Not gimmicky, not cartoonish, just quick enough to make you rethink everything you thought you knew about pace. They roll true, and that’s the dangerous part. When greens are this pure, every bad read feels like a personal failure. Uphill putts still scare you. Downhill putts feel like negotiations with gravity that you’re not qualified to conduct.The routing flows cleanly through the desert, and the whole experience feels intentional now. Nothing accidental, nothing lazy. Conditioning is excellent, the vibe is relaxed, and the course has that rare confidence that comes from knowing exactly what it is.

I had the pleasure of playing this little gem in the Palm Springs area. Being a desert rat, it’s always nice to get out to courses in Palm Springs that’s green and lush from tee to green.The range was nearly flawless, with many targets to warm up to and plenty of room. Titleist ranges balls are a nice touch as well.The greens are bent and roll like a dream. The encounters I had with the bunkers were quite enjoyable. Excellent firm but soft sand, if that makes sense, made getting up and down seem like I was a pro. We don’t get that good sand in Vegas.The routing is excellent! Dogleg City! At 6,800 yards from the tips and at sea level, the layout had me hitting a lot of long irons into the greens, but with the bent grass greens, the ball would hold. Also, something we’re not used to here in Vegas.The Par 5’s are challenging, a there are some great par 3’s that make you really ponder your shot selection.This was the third track I’ve played in the Palm Springs area, and it was a blast. The pro shop was kind of weak regarding selection, but they did have some very nice items; it just wasn’t my jam.If you get an opportunity to tee it up at The Springs Club, do not pass it up.

The atmosphere and views were stunning. Cocktail and small bites were delicious.

The CC is nice and has great service at the restaurant, but the pasta and meatballs were horrible.
