I just cancelled my membership to Genesis Health Club on Wellington Way in Lexington. I hated to do it because it is so close to me, and I had gotten into a routine there that was helping me get fit and lose weight. I frequently reminded the staff about various problems months ago, and I expressed my frustration. Many of the machines were out of order and the women's weight room has not had air conditioning since March. (The air quality in there is horrible.) There is no one around to help you or answer questions. The manager stays in her office all the time. About six weeks ago, an employee of the gym approached me and urged me to stick with the club because someone was going to be monitoring the machines better and supposedly repairs would be made. That was months ago. In fact there are more machines that say "out of order" on them than before! (see see sample picture) I doubt that business will last long.

We have had nothing but positive experiences with this club. Our children started playing tennis and all of the pros have been excellent in both the group clinics and the individual lessons. All of the staff is super friendly and it's become one of our favorite places in town.

Okay tennis facilities and great tennis coaches; everything else is a disaster. All levels of management seem ill equipped to run a business on multiple fronts, which trickles down to front-desk workers. I ultimately had to remove my credit card from their file because it was repeatedly erroneously charged, and to make matters worse, they don't know how to properly and promptly process a refund, the accounting person doesn't know how to charge a new debit against an account credit, and their membership and payment computer systems might be from the 1980s too. Moreover, after having enough of the incompetence and looking elsewhere, I discovered that this place is grossly overpriced for tennis. Beyond tennis, which was the only thing we were there for, the facilities are unappealing; the facility has the look and smell of a place that saw its heyday in the 1970s or 1980s, and hasn't been renovated since.

LTC is a the best in class community of Lexington court sport advocates and encourages individuals with shared camaraderie to unite. A list of rounded group lessons and fantastic pros is a support community for those new or wanting to advanced. I love Genesis!
